Oh No! Bar Smells!

Ok - so I did a gig last inght and used one of my lovely a'kai veils. Now I can't get the bar smell out of it. No sunshine here (too smokey from the fires in GA and FL) so I don't want to hang it outside. Any suggestions ladies?

I am so fortunate to receive emails of you lovely dancers with the akais..lately I received a pic from a dancer in Russia, and a pic from a dancer in Taiwan. They've both given me permission to post their photos here and on ebay as well as akai models.

If anyone else is willing to allow the use of your photos on email..can you either let me know (just respond here or send a pm) or go thru and note the photos in the photo gallery that are ok to use.

Please if they are copyrighted or owned by the photographer get extra special permission. In the ebay listing I can credit your name and photographers name but I can't link to you (ebay policy)..however if you do have a website be sure to let me know..once in a while someone inquires about the dancer so I could send them your link

Hello ladies.

Recent unexpected and unwelcomed changes in costumes mean I have to let go of this pair of beauties :(. Wah.

The colors just don't fit anything I own anymore and that's the only reason I'm letting them go.

I think I can safely assume you'll understand when I say I'm a bit nuts when it comes to my veils :).

So I guess I thought here would be the best place to start looking for someone who'll love them as much as I did.

So.

Pattern : KATA (see pics in my profile)

Large wings, 3 yards by 52 inches (originally 55 , have shortened and re-hemmed the straight edge with a flat hemline).

Have been used once for performance and for these photos, only.

Letting them go for 50US$ plus 6$ shipping to US and Canada.

Akai belly dance circle skirts

Jes,
I recently purchased a set of Volcanic Wings. They are breathtaking and flow so fluidly. I feel that such unique, exquisite silk wings, should be complimented with one of your amazing dancer silk skirts. I feel only your dancer, circle skirts can do justice to these veils and bring the ensemble closer to completion.
Please keep me in mind when you are ready to continue remaking the belly dance circle skirts again. I would love something to go with the Volcanic Wings in my size Small, Petite.

Hi Jes!
I used one veil from a a pair at the Fifi Abdo workshop in Dallas last weekend. She loved them so much she wanted to buy them from me. Even though it killed me (I LOOOOOVE this pair)- I gave them to her. I was also really happy- 'cos now Jes can say proudly "Fifi Abdo has a pair of my veils".

STATIC!!!!

What's the best way to handle severe static charge in silks? Please don't say "Static Guard"... I *HATE* that smell! I just cannot tolerate the smell of whatever chemicals are in it. Can the silks be treated with something? Rinsed with Downey or something like that??

I took some quickie pics of sarongs, shawls, and other items that I've dyed (when I was out of veil silk and jones'ing to dye something :) will be listing on ebay shortly..my husband and i are trying to set a goal of raising money in case we try to adopt a kid in the future so i'm willing to let a lot of stuff go for cheaper prices..

i dont want to post the pics here because the gallery is so nice with the dancers photos..keep em coming :)

I have a peach/salmon colored costume that needs a veil that just "pops". Any suggestions? I was looking at a rose that had peach, oranges and yellows in it and thought that might be nice?

Veil size and double veil

I'm trying to put together a double veil choreography and I have the following questions:

1) What is the best veil to use? I understand that both of have to be of the same shape and size for best results. However I have no idea what the best shape should be. I'm 5'3" and I see the large half circle viels as well as the new smaller half circle veils.
Which would be better? Also would a rectangular veil be better?

2) I'm been eyeing the silk veils for a LOONG time now and dying to get some. Are the silk veils the best option for dancing indoors for double veil work?

3) I have seen several posts that Petite Jamilla video on veil techniques is good? Does anybody own it? Any comments/recommendations? Are there any other resouces to learn double veil from other than workshops?

i've been counting them, and i'm starting to have quite an obscene collection of your veils. i wish i could dance with them more, they are soooo beautifull.

but i need to add a skirt to the collection!! wished you could have done my gigantic fall order (some other time!)
